From Forest to Formula: How the TP2 Composition Came to Be

You can't bottle forest air. But you can understand it — and reassemble it.

When you walk through a coniferous forest, you breathe more than just air. Trees release terpenes: volatile plant compounds that give the atmosphere of a forest its character. TPdeux takes this principle and translates it into a room fragrance that can be precisely controlled and replicated.

A forest that cannot be copied

The composition of forest air is never the same. It changes with tree species, season, and time of day. There is no single measurement of "the forest." So, instead of imitating forest air, we analyzed it.

Ten works, one pattern

It started with literature. Ten scientific papers on the composition of forest air were evaluated and screened for recurring molecules. Some terpenes appeared again and again — including α- and β-pinene, 1,8-cineole, 3-carene, and bornyl acetate.

Development path of TP2: from ten studies to the final formulation

From oil to formulation

The next step was the laboratory. Real essential oils were measured by gas chromatography and composed according to their scent profile: black pine, cypress, eucalyptus, rosemary, frankincense, Atlas cedar, kaffir lime. Fourteen formulations were created and compared.

One remains

In the end, only one remained: internally FB713A, today TPdeux. A composition that captures the character of the coniferous forest — resinous-green, clear, with a warm aftertaste — and can be reproduced identically at any time. Forest, translated into molecules.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is TP2 a natural product?
TPdeux is composed of natural essential oils and terpenes. The selection follows a scent profile, not randomness.

Why not just recreate real forest air?
Because "the" forest air doesn't exist — it constantly fluctuates. A composed formulation, on the other hand, is constant and repeatable.

What does gas chromatography mean?
A laboratory method that makes the individual components of an essential oil visible. This allows for targeted composition according to scent profile.
